About the Work
To celebrate Lou Harrison's centennial in 2017, MAFISHCO defies gravity with the help of a jahla composed in 1989 by Lou. Lou was an avid dancer and composer for dance. Margaret Fisher, director of MAFISHCO, was Lou's music copyist from 1986. Here, as below, Fisher adopts Lou's occasional strategy of drawing on earlier work to create new work.
